Investigators are trying to determine why a Flydubai co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, triggering a dangerous situation in the cockpit before passengers and crew intervened. The aircraft was carrying 174 people when the incident occurred. The Indian captain, Smit Machchhar, was injured during the confrontation but managed to open the cockpit door. Passengers and crew members entered the cockpit and helped restrain the co-pilot. The aircraft was subsequently diverted to Saudi Arabia and landed safely.

The suspect has not been publicly identified. Israeli officials have said he is an Omani national. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, including whether it was connected to terrorism or whether there was another motive. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the suspect had undergone what he described as “Islamist radical indoctrination.” However, that claim has not established the motive of the attack, and investigators have not publicly confirmed that the suspect acted on behalf of any organisation or that another government was involved.

The United Arab Emirates is also investigating whether the incident involved terrorist activity. Other possibilities remain part of the investigation, and authorities have not announced a final conclusion. The immediate danger was contained after the captain, passengers and crew acted to regain control of the aircraft. Their intervention prevented the confrontation from developing into a wider aviation disaster.

The key questions remain unanswered: Why did the co-pilot attack the captain? Was the act planned? Was anyone else involved? And was there a wider motive behind the incident? Until investigators establish those facts, claims about the suspect's motive or affiliations remain allegations.

The Human Frontline will continue to follow the investigation as verified information becomes available.
