Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says military confrontations are taking place daily in the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions remain high over the strategic waterway. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi told Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency that Iranian forces had been targeting smaller vessels and preventing them from passing through the strait. “We have been hitting small ships and preventing them from passing for a long time, but America does not respond,” Mohebbi said. His comments come as Iran’s leadership reviews a US proposal delivered through Qatar, following Tehran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for an end to what Iran describes as US economic warfare.

The developments come amid growing concern over the safety of commercial shipping in the waterway. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that at least three commercial vessels were targeted on Tuesday.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime routes, making any disruption there a major concern for international trade and energy supplies.

With diplomatic efforts continuing alongside military tensions, the future of commercial navigation through the strait remains uncertain.

The Human Frontline continues to monitor developments in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider conflict.
