KYIV — October 2, 2026

The Human Frontline reports that Russian drone strikes on Kyiv have killed at least one person and disrupted transport across the Ukrainian capital, with two major bridges over the Dnipro River affected by the attacks. The strikes forced the closure of bridges connecting the eastern and western sides of Kyiv, causing severe traffic congestion and disrupting the daily movement of hundreds of thousands of commuters.

Footage from the city showed people walking across a bridge after it was closed to cars and metro services following repeated strikes. The attacks come as Russia intensifies its bombardment of Ukrainian infrastructure ahead of winter. Ukrainian authorities are also seeking additional air-defence support, including at least 300 Patriot missiles, as Kyiv prepares for further attacks during the colder months.

The latest strikes highlight the continuing impact of the war on civilian life and critical infrastructure, as Ukraine faces renewed pressure to protect its cities and essential services before winter.
